Women's Fitness

Strong Through Every Stage of Life

Women's fitness needs can change throughout life.

At Fit Monkeys, we take an individualized approach to women's fitness, considering your goals, experience, current abilities, and stage of life when designing your program.

Whether your goal is to build strength, improve fitness, support an active pregnancy, return to exercise postpartum, or stay strong and active as you age, your training is built around you.

Strength Training

Build Strength for Life

Strength training can benefit women at virtually every age.

Regular resistance training can help build and preserve muscle, improve strength and physical capacity, support bone health, and make the demands of everyday life easier.

Your training may include free weights, cables, resistance bands, bodyweight exercises, Pilates, and other forms of resistance based on your experience and goals.

You don't need to be an experienced lifter to get stronger. We meet you where you are and progressively build from there.

Muscle & Bone Health

Strength Becomes Even More Important With Age

Maintaining muscle and bone becomes increasingly important as women get older.

Resistance and weight-bearing exercise provide an important stimulus for maintaining muscle and supporting bone health. Strength, balance, and mobility also contribute to maintaining physical capacity and independence throughout life.

Rather than waiting until these things become a concern, we believe strength training can be an important part of a long-term approach to women's fitness.

Prenatal Fitness

Staying Strong During Pregnancy

For women who have been cleared for exercise during pregnancy, an appropriately modified fitness program can help maintain strength, mobility, and overall fitness as the body changes.

Training may evolve throughout pregnancy based on how you are feeling, your previous exercise experience, your stage of pregnancy, and recommendations from your healthcare provider.

Our goal isn't to push you to train exactly as you did before pregnancy. It's to help you continue moving and exercising in ways that are appropriate for you.

Postpartum Fitness

Returning to Exercise After Pregnancy

Returning to exercise after having a baby is a process—not a race.

Once you have received appropriate clearance to exercise, we can gradually help you rebuild strength, mobility, stability, and overall fitness.

Your starting point depends on your individual recovery, previous fitness level, goals, and any recommendations from your healthcare provider.

We progressively build from where you are rather than expecting you to immediately return to where you were before pregnancy.

Midlife & Beyond

Your Training Can Evolve With You

The way you trained in your 20s doesn't necessarily have to be the way you train in your 40s, 50s, 60s, or beyond.

Goals change. Bodies change. And training can change with them.

Strength, resistance training, balance, mobility, cardiovascular fitness, and recovery can all play an important role in maintaining physical capacity as you age.

Our goal is to help you continue building a body that is strong, capable, and prepared for the life you want to live.

Our Approach

More Than One Type of Exercise

Women's fitness isn't a single training method.

Depending on your goals and needs, your program may draw from:

  • Strength & resistance training
  • Pilates
  • Corrective exercise
  • Mobility & flexibility
  • Balance & stability
  • Functional movement
  • Cardiovascular conditioning

Our experience across multiple areas of movement allows us to combine and adapt these tools rather than limiting your program to one type of exercise.

Individualized Training

Training Built Around You

There is no single workout program that is right for every woman.

Some women want to become stronger. Others want to improve mobility, support bone health, return to exercise, prepare for an athletic goal, stay active during pregnancy, rebuild fitness postpartum, or simply feel more capable in everyday life.

Your goals, exercise history, abilities, preferences, physical considerations, and stage of life all help shape your program.

And as those things change, your training can change with you.

Specialized Education

Our Women's Fitness Experience

Kelly and Denise are NASM Certified Personal Trainers with specialized education in Women's Fitness, along with comprehensive Pilates backgrounds and decades of experience working with women of different ages and stages of life.

Their understanding of women's fitness is also informed by their own experiences. Denise has experienced pregnancy, childbirth, and recovery from two C-sections, while Kelly has personally navigated uterine fibroids, a myomectomy, and the process of returning to exercise after surgery.

These experiences have given them a personal appreciation for the ways a woman's body, priorities, and relationship with exercise can change throughout life.

Combined with their backgrounds in strength training, Pilates, corrective exercise, mobility, balance, and senior fitness, their Women's Fitness education allows them to approach each woman as an individual—adapting training to her body, goals, abilities, and current stage of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Women's Fitness FAQs

Do I need experience with strength training?

No. We work with women with a wide range of exercise backgrounds.

If strength training is new to you, we can teach you proper technique, help you become comfortable with resistance training, and gradually progress your program as you become stronger and more confident.

Can I exercise while pregnant?

Many women can continue exercising during pregnancy, but pregnancy and individual circumstances vary.

We require appropriate medical clearance when necessary and modify training based on your exercise history, stage of pregnancy, how you are feeling, and recommendations from your healthcare provider.

When can I return to exercise after having a baby?

Postpartum recovery is different for every woman. Before returning to structured exercise, you should receive appropriate clearance from your healthcare provider.

Once cleared, we can gradually rebuild your program based on your recovery, current abilities, previous exercise experience, and goals.

Is women's fitness only about pregnancy and postpartum?

Not at all. Women's fitness encompasses much more than pregnancy.

We work with women across adulthood who want to build strength, improve mobility and balance, support muscle and bone health, improve athletic performance, maintain fitness as they age, or simply feel stronger and more capable in everyday life.
